Anyone running these? Not the DR just the 555 street tires.

I have read some horror stories about there cornnering traction, many of which involve them losing traction mid turn. Are these people nuts or are they really this unpredictable?

Next year I was going to pair these up with some 555 DR's.

Yea i have the nitto 555 R street tires on the front and they are the best damn tire out there! they have lasted over 2 years with out rotating. Maybe it is a good alignment but no akward treadwear either. I have never felt them slip mid way through a turn!

i love my tires never ever had them lose traction in a turn. i have a lot of confidence in taking turns at higher speeds w/ these tires. the rears hook really well and even in the rain there is a lot more traction compared to the stockers. they will still break loose in the rain, but its a lot easier to control now

Could be that the people with these "horror" stories just aren't very good drivers? I'm running nitto 555's and I drive my car pretty hard and no issues at all with corning or traction in general.

I have them, they're probably a few months old now and are great street tires IMHO.

These tires, as well as others out there on the market, don't magically "lose traction in mid-turn" unless you are going too fast for conditions or the tires are bald...

I am pretty sure they were doing some Need For Speed style turning. But I just had to ask. Most of the time reviews may say The tire wore to quickly or had no traction. So the whole mid turn loosness caught me by surprise.

For those of you that have them, How hard was the sidewall? Are they a firm handling tire or a " comfort " ride tire? I am used to BFG G-Force KDWS/KDW.

I had them on my 94. 255/40's up front 285/40's out back and they were by far the best tire I have had on any Mustang to date. I plan to put them on my 04 once I burn the Goodyear banana peels off!

I lost traction with them while in a turn. Course I was doing 85 around a corner that someone with half a brain would only 25 around. Spun right around and hit a guardrail. No excuses here, just stupidity on my part. But they are a great tire and I love them. Definitely one of the best tires Ive had on my car.
