Nitto's, MT's, or BFG's?

Nittos are on the street but on the track. MTs are on the track but ok on the street. BFG is a good balence of both.
Nittos will prolly last the longest, I roast mine all the time and they still look new

Nitto DRs are a horrible DR and some street tires hook better than they do. I couldn't hook on the street or the track with them when I had just my blower. Mine didn't last very long because of this also.

BFGs I've never personally ran but many of my friends have and they loved them. They also seemed to last pretty long too.

MTs are what I use and I LOVE THEM. They hook awsome on the street and at the track. They don't last too long but if you don't hit the track much with them then you should be fine. I've had them on all year and when to the track with them 5-6 times and made over 20 passes with them and they still have some passes left in them.

(DO NOT DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH THESE TIRES)

Some people might say its ok but get on SVTPerformance and look at how many people have wrecked in the rain with these on (Me being one of them).


PS: I would say with your mods that Nittos or BFGs would be fine, I think MTs would be overkill.

no street tires hook better than nitto drag radials. Cars have cut 1.3-1.4's on them. I watch a fox body cut a 1.49 with them last year. However, you have to know how to use them. They need to be heated up much, much more than normal drag radials. On the street, they wont hook any better than a street tire, but at the track, they will work fine. In a 275/40-17 size, you can't dump the clutch with them. You will "shock" them and and there is not enough side wall to flex. You will need to slip the clutch with them.

Track times are in my sig. I cut consistant 1.8-1.95 sixty foots with them, with 264rwhp, crappy fms c springs, and non adjustable shocks/struts.

I have BFG 315 DR's, and they are completely bald now. They are ALOT better than the Sumitomos I had on my last car, but don't seem all that spectacular on the street. I get one or two rotations out of them on a quick launch, then they are all glue. Meaning, they pick up a ton of rocks, and throw them all over the side of my car. I haven't tried them on the track yet, but will do so on April 5th. Now, could I do a clutch dump after warming them up real good? I hope so.

nitto's imo are the best all around if your looking for a tire that you'll drive on a considerable amount. that will be the question, how much are you gonna drive the car? if alot, then nitto's, especially if you get caught in the rain. if not, then definitely would go with the m/t's or bfg's. my buddy with a gn has the m/t's and they HOOK!

i love my MTs but as 04yellowgt said, do not drive in the rain...i got caught in the rain and i started to hydroplane at 35 mph!!!! luckly i regained control and got it home safely

BFG G Force

I have the 18x10 BFG G-force on mine right now...not bad, but preferred the Pirelli Pzero for street...don't drive in the rain..can't comment on that one.

Well I have had 2 of them...and a buddy of mine had the BFGs.

1st thinsg first, I ran 315 Nitto Drs and didnt have traction problems with my 550RWHP TT GT. Even with the smaller turbos (479/512) they dead hooked in 2nd gear. WAY better than street tires IMHO. They lasted 13,000 miles on my GT with a few trips to the track.

Now my 03 cobra has MTs out back (not the same as 04yellows...they have 2 designs. Mine are more street friendly and rain friendly). These things dead hooked my cobras 1st gear from slow roll...and this cobra has INSTANT, FULL power in 1st, unlike my TT GT. I couldnt believe it...absolutly amazing on the street. At the track I didnt get much practice with them...but other cobra guys do 5K RPM clutch dumps on them and cut 1.5 60's. I get a 1.9 HAHA!
SO I got 2 trips to the track with them AND over 7,000 miles out of em....they are still on the car too, but basically done.

BFGs my friend had wouldnt hook worth beans on the street. He had a 300HP (not wheel either) GT and could just boil them off....like glass and would go all over the place. He said they were about the slickest tire he had ever owned. Now this is NOT the norm BTW...MOST say these things hook like mad. So take that for what its worth....I dont know why they sucked so bad for my friend...heh he sold them shortly after. Now wants MTs after riding in my car
