NO a/c

Ok I am not getting any electricity to my AC compresor my fuse is fine any reason's why I have traced the wire to a device called a wot cutoff? What the hell is that it is by where the air intake box is mounted on the fender apron on the passenger side. Any suggestion

I think the wot cutoff is just that... under wot the compressor won't run. I searched on "compressor" a coupla weeks ago and found some good threads on testing the ac stuff. Try that.

It could be your low pressure switch. If your low on charge the switch will stay open. O r the switch could be bad. You can jump out the switch to see if the compressor clutch engages.

Just don't do it for very long, if you do, you may damage the compressor. The low refirgerant means that there probably isn't enough oil either since the oil circulates with the refirgerant.

Just don't do it for very long, if you do, you may damage the compressor. The low refirgerant means that there probably isn't enough oil either since the oil circulates with the refirgerant.

THanks for the site's but i have to ask where is the low pressure switch at? My air was working perfect ice cold I swapped out my manifold system aND IT STOPPED WORKING IT WAS WINTER SO I DID NOT NOTICE IT UNTIL LAST WEEK nY SWITCH IN THE CONSOLE WHEN i TURN IT ON TO a/c MY BLOWER KICK'S UP AND YOU CAN HEAR SOMETHING MOVING I THINK THE "DIVIDER " I DON'T KNOW....... BUT WHEN I TONE OUT THE CABLE COMING FROM THE COMPRESSOR IT GOES TO THE WOT WHICH I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHAT THAT IS ...MY COMPRESOR IS GOOD BUT I AM JUST NOT GETTING ANY VOLTAGE TO MY COMPRESSOR?

Low pressure switch is on top of the accumulator - aluminum canister on the passenger side firewall. There is an electrical connector that you remove and jumper the two contacts inside. This forces the compressor to ignore any low pressure condition that may exist.

The WOT is a relay located on the passenger side fenderwell under the MAF. Its purpose is to shut off the A/C when for 5-10 seconds when you go Wide Open Throttle (WOT). Set Tmoss's diagrams for more help on how the electrical circuit works.

If you have a 92 or later, the fuel pump relay is in the same general location. Check the wiring diagram for wire colors to make sure that you don't get the wrong relay.

Does the AC system have to be discharged to swap out this device, it is the switch that plugs on top of the Black Tank far left of the firewall?

You dont need A/C...mine has never worked in the 7 yrs I've had my car. NOTHING turns on if I flip over to the A/C!!! Be a man and roll the window down. LOL

No discharge is needed, there is a schrader valve under the pressure switch to keep the refrigerant in. As for the location you specified, it sounds like you are in the right place.

You are right about needing the A/C in Florida, there is no way I would have a daily driver in the Florida summer without it. It may be OK in Chicago or Vancouver, but not in Florida. Anyone who tries to do without it here in central Flordia will soon bake some of his brain cells and start driving the Rice-a-roni minvan and dating Godzilla.
