I did not notice that my 04 GT does not have anti lock brakes until I changed the rear end. I don't believe that they are an option. Anybody know why my car came sans anti lock? It really is not a big deal to me. I see it as one less thing to go wrong. However, I would like to know why they are missing?

Thanks

Anti-lock is standard on all GT's from 99 up. Why do you say that you don't have it?

Actually, during 03 and 04, ABS/traction control was an option for Mustangs. (GT's at least, not sure about the other models) Check and see if you have a TRAC OFF button in front of your shifter. If you don't have it, this verfies that you don't have ABS/TC.

Yup my 04 dosent have Track Off or ABS. It dosent bother me none I always turned it off in my V6. Even though there have been a few scary moments when I would have liked to have had it.

Yeah, I don't care for TC either but I wanted that ABS.

Actually it was standard in 2003...at least on the premium models. In 2004 it was an option on the GT combined with TC

I know this because i was searching for a new car in 2004 and couldn't find many GT premiums with ABS/TC. It was an $800 option and not many came with it for some reason. So i got a 2003 GT premium which still had ABS/TC standard. I beleive for 2005 it became standard again.

Reason i wanted ABS is because i live in new england and frequently drove in light snow, wet leaves, sand and salt and other conditions which were not perfect. Everyone knocks ABS for racing, but for daily driving it's nice having it. The MUstang ABS works nicely. It's fast and efficient. I've even had my ass saved a few times by that "worthless" traction control system. Glad i bought a Mustang equipped with ABS/TC

I specifically ordered my 04 without TC/ABS.. I figured at the time, why buy a Mustang, then have to push a button to smoke the tires? Never liked ABS anyway growing up in horrible WI winters.

ABS was one of the top safety improvments made in modern day cars.

It can save lifes, car's and Insurance prem

TCS can by turned off for fun but I like having it on mine for the wet crappy day up here in the North West.

Exactly. I turn it off on dry days but for everything else it's not that hard to push a button.

You gotta pull a knob to turn the headlights on don't you? Mustangs don't have Autolamps
