Hey All,

Here is the deal. Took my car for a drive and the trunk mounted battery cable burnt on the headers and stalled the car out. The metal on the cable was touching the header so it must have shorted something out.

I replaced the cable and routed it away from the header.

But the problem now is I get NO POWER. The lights won’t turn on, no radio, nothing.
I checked the battery and it has voltage. I also checked the cable where it connects to the solenoid and it has the same voltage.

I checked the fuse box and all the fuses look good. None were burnt out.

Could the burnt battery cable shorted out my

Starter solenoid and/ or Voltage regulator?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Did you recharge the battery? Will it even take a charge? Just because it's showing voltage doesn't mean it has the power to deliver. I've had the same thing happen and it usually spells the end for the battery.

I agree... hook up a battery charger and try again.

Otherwise, bust out the voltmeter and start checking voltages.

so you think it fried the battery??

The battery is about 1 year old and was working fine up until this happened?

You never know.. quickest way to tell is to hook up a battery charger with the battery still in the car. If lights start comming on etc, you have a battery problem.
