My american thunder has deltaflow 40's i think?

That's what I have. American Thunder 2-chambers with delta flow 40 mufflers.

It's pretty loud.

I took mine off for a week just to see what it would be like and I came to a few conclusions...

2. Like someone else said, it did seem slower....dont know how much truth there is to that though.

It takes off ALOT and is true. I raced a 5.0 with after I got my dynomax mufflers. We were dead even. Disconnected the mufflers right at the H-pipe. We lined up again and he walked me by 5 cars. There is NO torque. I couldn't barely squeal the tires and couldn't do it in 1st-2nd gear shift.

Merc speaks form experience and I can vouch on that (I learned the hard way too).

The torque and hp were actually increased by freeing the exhaust up, but it changed the whole powerband and made this "unusable hp and torque"

The cars hp and tq curves have been altered and you would probably have to turn 9,000 rpm to be able to get to the usable hp band.

One way for you mufflerless open exhausted guys to re-adjust your curve be able to use the hp and torque is to add steep gears such as 4.30s

This will definately help.

Also any time you change modifications (like swapping h pipes) it takes the computer a few days of learning what youve done and make the proper adjustments.

Do not swap pipes then go out and run a buddy at the strip as you are very vulnerable until the computer re learns and gives you full benefit of the mod.

I would think the inherent design of a cat would cause the popping. Essentially the cat is the focal point for various chemical reactions so it's going to more than likely pop. Or so I would think.
