i have dyno max mufflers on my 01 gt and i unbolted the cat back to see how it sounds and i like it. would it hurt anything to just cut the mufflers out and put a pipe there? I was just wondering because i think that it sounds great and i dont have any money right now. all i have is a k&n intake and side exhaust.

i think they sound like an ass personally. But other then you'll lose some backpressure, and you'll be local cop's most wanted list, i don't think its gonna hurt anything.

I have seen some people cut the mufflers out, as long as you keep the stock h in there it you will be ok.

Sounds fine. I did that to my stang when I first got it. Then I put an SLP Loud Mouth 1 on. The LM1 was quieter than the muffler delete. Just take it easy on the gas pedal and you should be OK.

As long as you have converters, you should be fine.

I personally think it sounds like ass and is too obnoixious, but your car not mine.

Thats the setup I have... stock H with no mufflers, just tailpipes. Ive not heard one person say they dont like the sound, including other Mustang guys. Its not that loud IMO, unless you go wide open throttle, even then its not as loud as you might think.

Why

Why would you want straight pipes on a mustang? I guess it goes with the stock 4x4 stance of the car.

It's your car and you can do what you want with it.
In my opnion it will sound horrible and very obnoxious.
Tally- did you ever get your catback for your car?

If you guys dont like it, be honest about it. I dont think it sounds that bad though.

I know my 03 GT sounds like a F150 unless I'm WOT with my O/R H and no mufflers. It's loud as hell and I disconnect the mufflers every now and again when I screw around.

A drag racer buddy I know said to be careful though because it could possibly lean the car out too much on fuel. I trust him alot because he's about 55 and his N/A Hemi Cuda runs 9's in the 1/4 mile. The motors he builds are bullet proof!

How would having no mufflers lean the engine out and cause damage when its not an issue to run an o/r mid pipe and a high flowing catback, and even that plus longtubes..?

If youre going to post a vid of your exhaust, it's best not to have another car racing with you. Can't distinguish anything.

I ran straight pipes for about 10 minutes after my cobra IRS swap..and that was with no cats too lol...muy muy loud! This lady stopped in her beamer in the MIDDLE of the road and looked scared ****less, just sitting there, waiting for me to make a turn (though she had the right of way and was stopping in the middle of the road lol).
