no mufflers

If youre going to post a vid of your exhaust, it's best not to have another car racing with you. Can't distinguish anything.

I can definatly hear my car over his. Im the loud one of the two, haha. You can sort of hear his, but mine is more dominate.

i have dyno max mufflers on my 01 gt and i unbolted the cat back to see how it sounds and i like it. would it hurt anything to just cut the mufflers out and put a pipe there? I was just wondering because i think that it sounds great and i dont have any money right now. all i have is a k&n intake and side exhaust.

Give it a week -- you'll hate it. So will your neighbors.

Another thing I remember about having no muffs or cats in my old vert, everytime I would get out of the car, Id smell like I had just be doused with Gasoline.

How would having no mufflers lean the engine out and cause damage when its not an issue to run an o/r mid pipe and a high flowing catback, and even that plus longtubes..?

Don't know. He was too technical for me to understand. Logically though, think about it. More air going out = more air coming in. More air + same amount of fuel = lean conditions.

Doesnt the computer adjust to that though? Thats one of the primary o2 sensors job, to monitor the a/f ratio and send info to the ECU so it can adjust accordingly, to a degree... correct? I dunno, thats just my guess on it... but I imagine thats how its ok to have an intake, tb/plenum and full exhaust and not have to upgrade injectors or anything like such.

Just my opinion on it, feel free to correct me...

I have been running no mufflers for almost 3 yrs on stock H pipe, no problems. I think it sounds brutal, really sick at WOT. Even the the service manager at the Ford dealer said it sounded good when I brought it in for an alignment. Little rough on the ears when cruising at 70 though.

Wish I knew I thought the same thing. All he said was that it was possible and something to look out for.

I have the Magnaflow aftercat X-pipe (still has the stock cats) and SLP LM2s. I was disapointed that is wasn't any louder than it was. So I pulled the mufflers and put in a steight pipe. Much better, sounds realy good when you're getting on it. But I drive a 130 miles each day and with the windows up the drone gets a little annoying but goes away as soon as you roll the windows down. But its not any worse the the Flowmasters I had on my '93 5.0. If you keep your stock cats you should be ok.
As for back pressure, your stock system has 4 cats and 2 mufflers. Those 4 cats will supply far more back preassure than the mufflers. So which do you think is worse, running an o/r pipe with no cats and hi flow mufflers or 4 stock cats and no mufflers?
