No, Not My Radiator

My radiator is on its death bed. It's spouting leaks all along one of the tanks and in the core. I took it to the radiator shop this morning and they told me to get a new one. Noooooo.....

I've only got 20 dollars.

Anyway does anyone know of a place to get a cheap, yes I am cheap, radiator that still functions like a non cheap radiator??

But I have a 73 mustang so I'm not sure it'll fit.

Should I just get a stock, non aluminum radiator? How many rows would you suggest for a 351w?

Size has as much (or more) to do with driving style and ambient air temp than displacement.

Frankly I don't see you getting any radiator worth the labor to install for $20.

i bought one of the generic summit racing brand radiators.

i fit a 25" one in my '66 coupe, so you'll have to measure what size you need, but they are pretty damn cheap.

the summit brand is actually a northern, but be forwarned, mine came with the fittings for the trans cooler unfinished...

mine didn't have fittings at all for the transcooler. forgot to mention that.

have to go with an aftermarket cooler

Did you have any trouble with the inlet and outlet neck size on your radiators?

I've got an unused (but was installed and later removed so it is not really "new") Northern "Race-Pro" that I'll sell for half what I paid. I had to pull it out since it has the DS lower and PS upper, that would not work with my electric water pump which forced me to raise my alternator so high it interfered with the upper hose...sigh.

I don't have the part number handy but can get it when I get home if anyone's interested. Neck sizes weren't an issue since I have those metal flex hoses, they come with "adjustable" fittings.

Northern makes an awesome unit for their price, they're not for show cars like some of the other (much more expensive) brands out there. But for a driver who cares if it isn't polished?

If you didn't have overheating problems before the leaks, and you're on a budget, why not simply stick to what you had? I presume it was stock. Any Mustang vendor should have one for about $100, give or take a few $$.

I have yet to see one under 180 dollars from the mustang parts suppliers, but maybe there is one out there selling them for less.
