Well I tried to change my oil a couple nights ago and needless to say it didn't go to well. I let the car cool for about 30mins and went to drain the oil, well i pull the plug and about 2 secs later the oil stops running so I'm like WTF. So then i put it on an incline and still no oil, hell I even stuck my finger up in it to see if it was clogged. I got about 2 quarts out of it and had to just fill it back up so i could drive it................................and the funny thing is I over filled it a little and went to drain some out when the car was out and I swear it came out better, to bad i didn't have any oil with me.

So what they hell could be doing this????? Has this ever happened to anyone???

Yup I bet this is what happened. The front drain plug will only drain maybe 1.5 quarts. The rear will drain at least 3- 3.5.

I think its probably because we've all done it the first time. I remember I nearly shat myself when I saw how much oil came out the first plug the fist time I changed my oil Then I found the second one and felt like an idiot...

Better than the 3/4qt of oil I drained out of my lil' sisters miata... .

I sat her down and had alittle informative session with her. Told her if anything bring it by the house 1 time a month and let me check it/top it off. I informed her she might have gotten lucky but did some damage...keep on doing it and you will be SOL.

At least your doing it on your own, and learning starts somewere and makes one enjoy the hobby/car that much more

I was working with brother on an explorer and the oil was black, had no tranny fluid thats what we were working on, spark plugs were loose undid with fingers loose, plug wire not on spark plug. cracked rad fan., power steering fluid every where. missed gapped sparkplugs. some people just dont know. Although most cars have only drain plug.

You handled it well - no need to poke fun at someone who does that.

Hey, my car burns oil.. I never get all 5 quarts back out... I usually get 4-4.5 after putting in a quart halfway through the oil change...

I hate having 2 drain plugs... the rear one drans through that stupid vert brace...

my favorite though is how the oil filter was strategically placed by ford in a spot where it leaks on everything when you loosen it.

Try changing the oil on a 4x4 F150 with a 302. It runs down the side of the filter and right around the front diff... big mess made more fun by a bunch of spots to drip on the floor. lol

You can cup an old oil bottle in half (keeping the top half) and flip it upside down (pour spout down). Adding a hose to the filler neck helps direct the oil where you want it.

Then you would have to loosen the drain plug while oil begins to pour out while simultaneously holding the oil-director contraption with your other hand while the drain plug gets to the end of the line and is shooting out in 15 different pressurized directions and then make sure the hose is going in the right spot.

I want video.

Huh? I remove the bolt with one hand. The other hand would hold the funnel, which has a hose going into the drain pan.
This is something that Harley owners are familiar with as well.

I suppose one of those drain valve kits would work if the funnel idea is too much. Just watch ground clearance if those kits hang low (I've never used one).
