no posi?

time to rebuild the trac-lok, you have toasted the clutch packs. spend the 35 bucks for a rebuild kit and bring it to a shop. since your rebuilding it you might have to reshim the carrier, thats why i say bring it to a shop.

Never nice to lose 1 leg. Simple to rebuild and if you have a few tool to measure with it can easily be done at home.

The clutch replacement is pretty easy. I didn't know that you could need to reshim the carrier after you did it. I've done it on one 7.5" by myself, and I helped my friend do it in my current 8.8" when he put new gears in.

I think Summit sells the rebuilt kits.

It'll be nice to have the other leg back.

Your clutches might be fine. Which direction are you trying to do the donuts in, to the left? or to the right? The rotation of the driveshaft twists the rearend to the left, taking weight off the right rear, and this is why most non-posi cars will spin the right rear tire. If you removed your sway bar, when you go to whip a donut to the right, it's allowing more body roll and taking even more weight off that tire, and it will overcome the posi very easily, even with perfectly good clutches. Try doing a donut to the left if you aren't already. I'm not saying your clutches are not gone, but if it will spin a nice posi in a straight line, this is most likely what's happening. If you want it to spin posi all the time, get a detroit locker or a good aftermarket posi unit.

i wouldnt even attempt to replace the discs in the trac-lock. there junk. buy a aburn or a eaton POSI unit and do it right. i had my kit rebuilt this past feburary and blew the clutches out in a month. i wish i would have bought a actual posi unit. trac-lock is like a limited slip.
