ok guys got a problem, haha who would have guessed right?, but anyways i have the motor in its turning over but i have no spark, i took out a spark plug and tested to see if it was sparking and no go, so my question is why could this be? i would lovvve to hear this thign run even from it just turnign over it sounds MEAN but anyways any information would be great guys, thanks again for all of your help :D

Take the coil wire out

of the dist, hold it in your hand and let a buddy try and start the car. If it bites you real good then its in the dist somewhere.

I would only recomend this if your heart is real strong and you have no medical issues........LOL

Sorry, I`ve actually had this happen to me when I wasnt watching one of my buddies once.....ouch.

Double check your engine ground off the intake. I have that one plus one off the block on mine! Nothing is going to take place without the negative/positive thing happening.

you need to start checking things in a logical order;

1: do you have power to the coil?

2: do you have power through the coil?

3: are the points adjusted properly(assuming you have points)?

4: is you engine properly grounded?

5: are your plug wires conducting electricity?

6: is the rotor installed(stupid question i know, but you would be surprised how often even i forget that:eek: :eek: :doh: :doh: )

7: if you have points, is the condenser in good shape?

ok ill try to asnwer allthe questions so first of all OUCH to holding it haha i have been shocked by it on my 89 and that was a waker upper for sure. i do have points i have a dual points mallory distributor and its old considering it came with the car so that mightbe the problem, i have an extra coil that i know works so i will try and hook that up to see if that was the problem .. i think i have a good ground because i just re-installed the engine but i could have mesed that up a little bit so i will check for sure, thanks alot guys and if it all comes down to i will definatly go get an electronic distributor i just dont realy want to spend the money right now.

ok i figured out the no spark problem and yes i am a fool:eek: the line from the coil to the distributor i had hooked up to the positive :nonono: instead of the negative so i got it to turn over but i am going to start a new thread with a diffrent question
