Anybody got any news on the whipple charger? I have not heard of anyone installing it or even buying it yet... From the stuff on their website, it looked like that would be the perfect one for me :owned:

Yet, I have not seen it reviewed anywhere so not sure if it's released?

Anobody else know anything? I tried emailing whipple with no success.

Will :damnit:

Hey Will,

I was wondering the same thing. The black for $5,500 looks like an awesome S/C. I have always been fond of Whipple's solid technology.

I was thinking about contacting MM&FF or Mustang Enthusiast magazine and asking them if they had a Whipple in the woodpile somewhere. MM&FF have been running the gammet on the S/C, but I have not seen them getting their hands on a whipple unit yet.

Since you have a personal stake in this (I went with the V-6 this time around - 3rd Stang got rid of the 03GT) you may want to check with MM&FF at www.musclemustangfastfords.com
and see if they have been able to acquire a tester car and a whipple unit yet.

If I find anything out, I'll be sure to share! :nice:

As I understand it, whipple is having lots of trouble getting up to speed on production because Lysholm (the company that makes the rotors) is way behind on production. There are even rumors that the Shelby will be a roots vs a twin screw because of the supply problem. If you are in a hurry the Saleen is the best twin screw option right now. Kenne Bell still hasn't put theirs into production even though it has been in several mags. Whipple first said their blower would be ready in February, and they, like KB have been making excuses ever since.

Yup, this is why Ford decided to go with Eaton for the Shelby as it will provide more supply and still meet the neccessary HP #s with those great flowing heads.

This is part of the reason Ford doesn't want to be quoted on a final HP figure.

Yeah, the KB's rotors are also sourced from Lysholm, so same problem for them. Boo. Any experiences with the Saleen? The numbers I've seen from them don't seem as impressive as the other twin-screws.
First, Kenne Bell's rotors are built by AutoRotor, not Lysholm. As far as differences in output, there aren't any other twin screws on the market besides Saleen, so comparing them is like saying the '05 Stang is faster than an '05 Camaro. Also keep in mind when making those comparisons that boost levels and accessories should be heald constant in order to get a fair comparison. Both KB and Whipple run their S/C @ 8psi, whereas the stock Saleen unit is only 4 psi.

Ah, OK. I got my info from an MMFF article (or 5.0M&SF, I'll look). Maybe the writer was confused since the terms "Lysholm" and "Twin Screw" have become somewhat interchangable. Too bad the mechanically challenged like myself don't always have the option of, say, bumping the boost on unit such as the Saleen. It looks really well put together in comparison to the other units, the way it's self-contained for the most part.

i always thought the way to bump up the boost on superchargers is to add the pulley kits which increase the psi by 4. correct me if im wrong
