Noise from rear end

Whining Noise coming from rear end
I have a 89 gt with 4.10 gears and last week before I brought it to a shop for a clutch and tranny repair, I've been hearing a weird whining noise coming from the rear end I think. I recently had a new water pump put on a month ago and the mechanic said when he drove it around, he heard noises coming from the rear end also. This mean I need a new one or is there certain procedures that can be done without replacing the whole thing? Is there any place that I can take it to that specializes somewhat in rear ends?

the pinion depth is what is causing your whining.from what i have been told once the ring and pinion has been ran awhile that they develop kinda like a groove and if it is whining it will continue to whine no matter what you do...i could be wrong..my rearend had the same problem for about a year and then i finally busted it so it got all new parts..no more whining.
