Hey Guys, i have a question to ask. i have a built 2001 Mustang GT. My car drives great but every time i drive the car, 20 to 30 min later there is a rattle noise every time i hit the gas, so i have to drive in 3rd gear really slow until i get home. i am not to familiar with lifter noise, etc. i have racing cams. If anyone could help me that would be great, i live in spring hill, Florida. I Took the driver side valve cover off and the lifters are right there, they seem fine to me but like i said, maybe i can not tell by looking at them

Does speed change the noise? Engine rpm? Throttle position?

What exactly do you mean by built and how long since the engine build?

If you have a built engine, as in forged piston heads; from my research a forged pistons make a bit of noise compared to the high silicon based pistons that come stock.
Yeah, what Max says, need MORE info.

what i mean by built is, it has racing cams, port and polished heads, Aluminum Manifold a bbk Air intake, ect. yes, the noise gets louder when i go fast so when the noise appears i have to go slow and get it home. i built the engine last year, i already made it throw the breaking period. i am kinda thinking its the lifters but not 100% sure...i know its not the pistons or the seals

You would have to pin point the noise, are you positive the noise is comming from your valve-train. Could be anything from noisy injectors to a loud throw-out bearing. Noise radiates throughout the car fooling the ear.

Any luck. A noise that increases with engine speed could be valvetrain, TO bearing or internal. It could be the piston kissing the valve or the TO bearing chirping/grinding away.

If you need professional help I have a guy who does all of my labor intensive installs and works only on Mustangs/Fords. He is very knowledgeable and reasonable and his shop is in spring hill.

You still didn't answer all the questions. Is it speed related or engine rpm.

Speed only related is obviously not the motor.
