I have a weird noise that kind of sounds like air escaping when I brake, kind of a shoooshing or whoooshing noise. It's fairly faint and when I put the brake on completely it goes away. Anyone know what this could be? My first instinct was that it could be the air intake, it kind of sounds like that, but that doesn't make any sense to me. Also when I release the brake it makes a squealing noise. Anyone know what that could be from?

Thanks in advance for any help!

whats up dude, your experiencing a bad power brake booster. the seals are letting vacuum leak from the booster everytime you hit the brakes. if the pedal isnt extremely hard yet, it will be but thats all that will happen is you will lose power assist on your brakes.

i also wanted to ask, i aslo have an 87 gt, and was thinking of doing the same mods you have done, did any of them honestly make a big differance, pros and cons of each, if you dont mind. thanks in advance.

Brakes are not my forte, how would I go about fixing that?

The cold air intake doesn't do much at all, but I knew that when I got it. I got it for fairly decent price, I paid $60 canadian for it, well over half price, but it's only there for the looks. I noticed a difference in the BBK shorties both in a slight power increase and a better overall sound. Downside was definitely the installation. And if you decide on new headers, I can't stress enough, GET LOCKING HEADER BOLTS!!!! Will save you time and money down the line when having to replace blown header gaskets. I also notice a bit of a difference in response when I installed my new plugs and wires, but that was mainly due to the fact that I did that when I first bought it and it needed a tuneup badly.

thanks for the info on the parts. the brake booster isnt a major project, unbolt the master cylinder from the booster(two bolts) but dont disconnect the lines. go inside the car and follow the brake pedal up to where it meets the pushrod, unclip the pedal from the rod and slide it off. then 4 bolts hold the booster to the firewall. reverse for install and your done. always after doing something like this check your brake lights. to be honest with you though, if the pedal isnt really hard yet, i wouldnt worry a bit. it isnt really a safety issue until the pedal gets hard and it takes alot of force to get it to stop the car.

Thanks for the help. Normally, I wouldn't worry about it, but I'm in the process of selling my car, and having unusual noises isn't good for the selling process
