Noise when clutch is engaged

ok guys......i'm hearing this noise when my clutch is engaged. it's like a rattling noise. it gets louder as rpms increase. i'm not a manual transmission guy, so i'm lost. please help. car is a 94 gt with 5 speed, no mods besides exhaust.

i'm positive that its not detonation. now tob, i'm not sure. i know nothing about standard trannies or clutch assemblies.

anybody else got any ideas?

If you're only hearing the noise when you depress the clutch pedal, it's the clutch throwout bearing warning you that it's going south.

Just so we're all on the same page:

Does the noise occur when your foot is off the clutch pedal (clutch engaged)? Then if you start to depress the pedal, the noise abates?

Or is it the other way around?

If the former, adjusting the slack out of the cable should quiet the noise down (cable clutches should have zero lash).

i've had both the noises JT desribed above, but at different times. the cure for each one respectively: adjustable clutch set-up (triple-hook quadrant, firewall adjuster) and a new OEM throw-out bearing.
