I am not sure if this's a serious problem or not!
I have 2005 GT, started to notice that there is like wind blowing sound comes maybe from wheels or Diff whenever i turn the steering (mostly half turn) it keeps going on till i return the steering back to straight position!
any help/explainations!

Maybe your power steering fluid may be low ??? so I'd check it just to be on the safe side..If it's not low and you still notice the noises ?? Ask your dealer and find out what he or she recommends..

It is most likely your rear wheel differential. I am taking my car in monday to have it fixed. I was told that many new mustangs were having the same problem. I don't hear the noise on mine until I have driven the car for about a half an hour. I then start to hear a humming noise from the rear. I would say it's your diff.

have your power steering checked for air, and make sure its properly filled. if the noise is coming from the rear, yes more then likely its your rear diff.

Inexpensive Solution

Lots of people have this issue, and I have had it myself. Now I don't.

There is a very simple-inexpensive solution that has been proven to work. I could get into what causes this "whining-sound", and what Ford Mechanics will tell you, but it would take way more typing than I'm willing to do right now.

Go to your local Dealership, and ask them for Motorcraft XL-3 Gear Friction Modifier. It should cost $4.95. Ask them to pour this directly into your rear-axle. Drive the car off the lot, and do about 3 slow "Figure 8's", and Voila!!!!!! Whining Gone!!!!!

It has worked for everyone that has tried it! Some 'Stangs are built without XL-3; it's a factory flaw.

Disclaimer: This method only works if your whining-sound is generated from the rear wheels.

Noisy Clutch Pack

I have a 2006 Mustang GT with the 8.8 inch Limited slip axle that had the noisy clutch pack at 5219 miles. I had the clutch pack replaced per Tech Service Bulletin 6-12-11 which cured the problem. For a while! The same problem cam back at 8819 miles (thats 3600 miles and 6 months). The Clutch pack was replaced again per superceeding TSB 06-19-2, Operation 061902A, Part Number 6L1Z-4947-B, Part Name Clutch Pack, which also stated that it was NOT to be used with 4205A,4205A4, 4205A12, 4205A13, or 4234A, whatever those numbers mean, probably the part number of the differential?. Again, this fixed the problem and I'll wait to see what happens. It appears as though the Ford Engineers did indeed take a look at the problem. Stay tuned for more in about 6 months.

Did replacing the clutch pack do anything for the clunk in the rear heard while making a low speed, low gear up shift?

thanks
