i just posted another question about my keyless, but then i was wondering about this also...tonight, i ended up PUSHING my car into a parking space in my apartment complex after i stopped at the mail room and the car wouldn't start afterwards. (girl with broken hand in dress clothes pushing car by herself. i am the most pitiful person i know.) anyhoo. when i turn the key, i've got full battery power, but the motor won't even turn over. could it be a problem with the cheesy aftermarket key that it came with? maybe it's not sending the right signal? i dunno, anything electronic as far as these things goes is still way over my head. any help would be really appreciated.

could be the starter going out...you will still have power, but the car wont start....to test it you need 2 people...have one person tap the starter with a hammer why the other tries to start the car, if she turns over, then thats your problem...

maybe one of the gallant gentlemen that stood by and watched me push my car will help me test it.... ;-)

this is the 2nd time it's done this in a month. both times were at my apartment complex's mail room. maybe it's trying to tell me something?

you know, i honestly didn't notice. i'm pretty sure the light went out, but i'm not positive. i'm guessing if it stays lit that that would be the starter disable kicking in?

Although, now that I think about it, Justin03GT could have a point...if you try and start the car with the THEFT light lit, all you would get it the motor cranking and not starting...what you have is no crank which could very well be the starter.

i flashed them my sweetest smile, followed by my best "you guys are DICKS" look. i got it pushed about 100 yards back over a few speed bumps and was trying to figure out how i was going to steer AND push it around a corner and into a space, when a nice old guy who was out waxing his vette in the carport came and helped me.... too bad he didn't see me sooner!

well, hopefully it's as simple as a new starter..... i was thinking more complicated and more expensive!

Hee hee...if you think that is simple, you should try and remove it...what this job lacks in complexity it fully makes up for in labor charges...

so i guess me and my friend chilton won't be able to git'er done in a weekend in my carport?

well, I wouldn't go that far...I don't know how old your stang is but I can tell you from recent experience that you'd have to remove the mid-pipe to get at it and if it was anything like what I have, you'll be battling rust.

I removed the tranny from my stang Memorial Day and it took me 8 hours including 3 trips to 3 different stores for tools.

it's a 96.... it's a california car so rust will hopefully be minimal....it was up on a lift just a week or so ago (crappy weld on the flowmasters that the last guy put on it broke and left me on the side of the freeway...) and it looks surprisingly clean underneath. but i still think it's gonna be biting off more than i can chew.

aww, shucks. i'd rather not know much and do it myself than have people do it for me and take the credit...kinda like all the girls in mustang magazines with BEAUTIFUL cars and you think "hey, cool, she built this car herself..." then you read the article and it's all about the work that their dad/boyfriend/husband did to the car...
