Iv been looking around and they say the none PI motors make 240HP and 280tourqe. if this is true the why most people not making over 300 HP with everything i have and 100 shot? and also what numbers do you guys think my car will be making at the motor

Non-PI's are rated 215 (96/97) and 220 (98) crank HP I beleive.

Its not an easy task to get a PI Mustang to make 300rwhp. It takes all the bolt ons, cams, longtubes, and a real good tune in most cases to break those numbers.

With a 100 shot you should be able to make that though. If not 300rwhp, don't sweat it... tourqe is where its at and you will be making alot of it.

At the wheels, stock you are probaly putting down 200-205rwhp. Average stock PI's dyno about 230-240 to the wheels through a 5speed.

The non pi mustangs stock, came with 215 hp for the 96/97. If i remember correctly, they only make 189hp to the rear wheels if a little more, i might be wrong, but i know its in that ball park. and if i had to take a guess, your car is probably making between 190-200 hp if thrown on a dyno. I know your prolly reading this and thinkin im crazy, but its true. If i were you, i would do a PI swap, i did that with my 98 mustang and it made all the difference.

with a 100 shot you could get over 300rwhp easy, with a 100 shot i would put down give or take a few hores about 325rwhp

oh yeah 98's make 225hp, 290tq at the crank

sorry man.. truth hurts.. i was in your boat, and i sunk it and went PI.. thats the best bang for the buck, jus because its a mustang doesnt mean it will kill everything.. i was in your NPI boat a year ago..

PI swap will put you out ahead of a stock PI just a little bit because the non-PI pistons will cause a bump in the compression ratio when you use PI heads on your motor.

You can do the swap reasonably. It or/and nitrous are the most cost effective for a 96-98 GT.

Its labor intensive.

The hardest part will arguably be setting the timing correctly.

You would be swapping the heads/cams and intake manifold.

to be honest its a PITA.. but if you take your time its not bad..

BEST thing you can do is to put in the PI cams, (same PITA but you can have forced inductoin later down the road!) and a PI intake..

the actual heads will give you minimal #'s..

the wasy way isnt a 150 shot.. cus that only lasts you a trip around the city.. then you have a stock NPI again(boooo)

depends if you want a forced induction in the future.. cus the actual heads will kill your dreams of FI in the future.. the compression is what kills you..

if you dont want FI in the future then go with the full PI swap!!

if you want FI and dont plan on a full engine rebuild with low compression internals then go with the PI cams and intake!

if you just dont know what you wanna do and just want the best bang for the buck and still keep youe options open then go with used PI cams, and a brand new PI intake

Congrats on going to college. I'm allready there, the money thing is tight... lol.

If you don't have any extra laying around, honestly you don't want to get into nitrous at this point.

To do it RIGHT, you will need a tune ESPECIALLY for a 150 shot. Once you buy a kit, get the proper accessories, and tuned, you will be out of a decent bit of cash.

Then there is always the chance the motor will puke, and you are really screwed.

If you are dead set on nitrous skip the 150shot and keep it between 75-100 for the time being.

I would suggest doing the PI intake and cam swap, and at LEAST 3.73's if not 3.90's or 4.10's.
