ok, so can someone give me some info on cams?

i dont know much about them. Is one cam better than the other? do they make cams for n/a vs. fi?

who makes good cams, what do they cost? what would be a good set of cams for a n/a stang?

i'm sure they have "extreme" cams, but what is a good bal of power and MPG?

will the cams impact my MPG? about how much HP and TQ will they add?

thanks guys

there are a few companies that make cams for the 4.6. VT is popular, along with comp cams and crower cams.

depending on the cam you can get some decent hp increases. however you mileage can drop. also your emissions will increase, making it more difficult to pass smog.

as far as hp & tq increase... it depends on a few things

1) obviously the lobs on the cam
2) Your RR's
3) Your valve springs

If I were you i'd replace all of them and then you could see a good increse in power. I don't know what to go with as faras lobes, spring lift & rr ratio for a GT, but i'm going with a

209/209 110* lca
.510
1.80 rr ratio

Yours will obviously be higher than those due to haveing 2 more cylenders, etc

i will soon have my set of VT stg1 cams they are real good cams they don't sacrifice bottom end torque and give you a nice gain of HP after 3000 rpm depending on mods you have on the stg 2's will sacrifice some torque for HP but that is only like 10 more from the stg 1's and you will have to swap springs on the stg 2's
