This is 100% my fault, but still frusterating as hell!

I put my motor mounts on the wrong sides....Drivers on Passengers and Passengers on drivers....and yes it does matter. Because of this, the engine/tranny sits about 2-3" too far up, so now I gotta pull it back out after spending 45 min getting it maneuvered in w/ my POS load leveler.

Maybe I can just raise it enough to get to the mounts and not actually have to pull it all back out.

Before that, I forgot to put my dust sheild on the back of the block; I didn't think about it and I put my flywheel/clutch/pressure plate on and then realized I had to pull it all back off and put the dust shield on and then do it all again.:bang: :bang: :bang:

I hope to have this damn thing running by tonight!!!

I went right out and hoisted the engine back up a couple inches and was able to swap them around w/ the impact without pulling it back out...wheew! Just took a few min, but getting it lined back up into the k-member takes me forever. Got it all back in now, just having trouble getting the tranny mount lined up, so I'm taking a quick break. Hopefully this is one of those times that I go back out and it works perfect once I'm calmed down.

Honestly, it seems like it takes me forever to do the smallest things.

Recently went through that very thing. Loosen ALL of the motor mounts. The two for the mounts and the larege one on each side that goes to the k-member. Take some weight off the the moutns with teh cherry picker if you must and see if it lines up better. My big ass headers were hitting steering shaft on mine but there was also something else that I could NOT see that was gumming up the works. Rick was the one that finally got it in but we never knew for certain what the hold-up was.

yeah my headers were hitting the steering shaft too, but they're just FMS shorty's. That's all good now.

My problem now is the crossmember. I knew when I pulled the tranny mount/crossmember apart that it was going to be a nightmare to put back together and it definately is. My exhaust is all welded, so I can't pull the h-pipe off and since the hanger is in the hanger mount, I can't even pull it down at all. I think I'm going to just have to cut one of the hangers off and pull the H pipe down to get it done or I'll never get it done...there's literally no way that I can think of other than cutting the hanger off and pulling the exhaust down.

I guess it would be fine w/ just one hanger and if not, I can get it welded up later.

With all your stuff welded, I'm sure you could loose ALL the H-pipe hangars with no effect at all. Mine is still all modular and bolted together and my hangar plate currently sits in my hatch, unused.

If the tranny is not lining up with the tranny crossmember, how far off is it? If it's just a hair off then maybe slotting the bolt holes in the tranny cross member will give you the slop needed to get the bolts through.

The motor mounts typically are not marked RH or LH, so it is easy to get them switched.

If you forget where the big hump is in the rear crossmember goes, it just as easy to put it in wrong. You may not notice it until you go to line up the bolts in the trans to crossmember mount.

Don't feel too bad - I just got done with a 15 hr marathon swapping my clutch and pressure plate. I started at 2pm yesterday and got done at 5am this morning. I'm tired!

so...+1 on taking forever:rolleyes:

I ended up getting the crossmember bolts to line up by just pushing real hard and jamming the bolt in there. Sometimes force seems to prevail where logical thought doesn't, but then again that may be why I have some of the problems I do:p

Jrichker, I believe the motor mounts that were on the car were marked RH and LH, but I don't know if the new ones I bought were. The guy at autozone labeled the boxes for me, but I must have gotten side-tracked and threw them on backwards. Either way, we're good to go now. Ha ha, and yeah I did learn that the crossmember has to go a certain way too. The first way I put it in was incorrect, so - after a sudden WTF, I flipped it around and bingo.

I worked 12 hours with a 4-5 10-15 min breaks here and there and managed to get quite a bit done. The engine and tranny are all secure, a/c and p/s pump firmly attached, as well as the alt bracket. The injectors and rails, etc, are hooked up.

Basically, all I have to do is the upper intake, fan/shroud, radiator, clutch cable, and driveshaft before I stab the dizzy, fill it w/ fluids, install the shifter and crank it over.

I guess the driveshaft likes the tranny to have fluid because I tried to bolt it up earlier and it wouldn't rotate for me w/ the tranny in what I assume to be neutral and the e-brake off.

Anyway, thanks for the help guys.
