My friend has an old escort (it looks kind of similar to the old fox body i have) and she has to hold the gas and the break because if she lets go of the gas at a stop light and just holds the brake, the idle will dip so low that the car dies sometimes...i'm talking it goes to like 500RPMS (its an automatic) but i was wondering what is wrong? did escorts also have an IAC? cause that was my first thought...thanks for your help!

If it's fuel injection it should, it could also be a map sensor.

nah steve......wouldnt know how on an old escort, LOL, but its just the idle thingy.....i'll do a tune up on her car first though...

Do want us to fix it for you too? Pull the codes. Clean and check the IAC. Check for vacuum leaks. Either go to the zone to borrow the code scanner or jump the pins (depending on the year).

if she's cheap, just adjust the throttle cable so it idles a little higher?

Yea just turn the idle screw on the TB a little bit so it idles a little higher hahahaha. quick fix
