ok i have a 91 ford mustang all stock i just put a new clutch in and everything and after driving about 3 thousand miles something weird happens and im not sure what happend there is a noise what sounds like its coming from the bell housing but it is raising alot of noise and i think that it is the throwout bearing but not sure it still runs the same but there is this loud ass noise that kind of sounds like a rollercoster going on the tracks but i am just wondering what it could be

does the sound change when you push in the clutch? that would indicate a throw out bearing. If not, I had a hell of a problem with a noise from my bell housing, sounded like you explained it, the starter drive spring broke inside the starter that holds it back from the flywheel, so the starter drive was rubbing on the flywheel, man i had that tranny out so many time haha. Check that out first cause its the easier one to get at.

Ok, I have to get this out of my system... Welcome to StangNet. Now find that little key two keys to the right of the letter M on your keyboard. See which one I mean? :D

Are you certain the sound is coming from the transmission? Could you describe the sound a little better? The sound of a roller coaster could be numerous things, but I'm not sure what to think of off hand without a better description. Is it a rattle, or a grinding sound?

when ever i push in the clutch the sound would stop and whenever i am parked and put it in first the sound will stop all of a sudden but when i put it in neutral it will start making the noise and the noise is like a clunking noise and when i drove it home when i went to 3rd gear it was not as bad but was still doing it and all the noise is coming right from the bell housing and at the back of the tranny i found that one of the bolts was backd out a little not sure why because we tightend them down pretty good so i just tightend it back

i dont think he got the period comment. Anyways....a throw out bearing makes likea rattling sound only when your foot is off the clutch. If the noise goes away when you depress the clutch that is most likely your culprit. If not i would take the tranny down and have a look...noises like that cant be good.
