I have a 93 coupe that I just bought. Engine and tranny are brand new (hav reciepts. When shifting 1st to 2nd and sometimes third. Its real notchy. Sometime its like you run into a wall when shifting but then it will go in. No grinding or anything. The guy I bought it from said it was a short shifter. I know its a B&M. Do you think its the shifter? I was Planning on getting a triax soon but was just curious. Thanks Daniel

Check the clutch cable to make sure it is releasing all the way, however, I have a B&M Ripper Pro and it sucks. Its notchy as hell. I really need to change back to my Pro 5.0 but I just haven't found the time.

Agreed. Tell folks your point of engagement (close to the floor, high up, etc. I bet it is right on the floor). Good luck.

I know its not an engagement problem or a cable problem. It engages about half way up like it should. I know this problem is more than likely a shifter problem or something. When I put it in fifth at highway speed it kinda whines through the shifter.

I have the exact same kind of problem and I run a Pro 5.0. Sometimes I just can't get it into gear because it's just like you decribed "hitting a wall".

This is the same problem I am having but I have a Tri-Ax and they are known for their notchyness. Plus the tranny needs to be broken in a bit. Im hoping it eases up.

the whine that u hear might be from the missing rubber boot when the shifter was installed, its no big deal really, i have a pro 5.0 shifter and i hear whining through the transmission and that is why because i am not running the rubber insulation

I have the pro 5.0 also sometimes when I shift it in gear it stops from going in all the way. I just take out of that position put it back in that gear and it goes in. can it be the shifter

is it a tremec? those can be very notchy. depending on what shifter it is, that can add to the notchiness (im running an MGW, its pretty notchy, but i love it. pro 5.0 is the same way).
