I sold my 97 WS6 a few weeks ago and picked up a 00 GT last weekend. The car is in pretty amazing shape, but I wasn't impressed with the power. I just chalked it up to a 50 or so hp difference. I ended up changing the plugs, boots and springs, K+N pod, cam sensor (another story), and today checked out the fuel filter. IT WAS IN BACKWARDS! It was plugged enough that I couldn't blow through it. Got the new one in, took a test drive. Now, this is what a car should drive like. My WS6 was decently modded (stock ram air, TB, full SLP exhaust, gears, pullies, shift kit, tune, etc...) The Stang felt just as powerful today and it's stock minus CAI and full exhaust. The TA board I frequented constantly bashed Stangs due to the stock power, but I really think it would be a seriously close 1/4 mile with a TA. Damn I'm happy now.......

congratulations. i know exactly what how you feel.
i swapped in my 98 ws6 for this 03GT, it feels lake a V6 compared to my LS1. but definitely
a more stylish and refined car, at least mod's ar cheaper on stangs just put some 410's
and ur good to go:nice: OH! btw get some dark smoked head lights and some black bullitt's OR fr500's

nice mustang, but personally i would never trade a regular ford mustang for a very special trans am i mean the ws6 was the terminator of GM, and this is coming from a guy who would drive a mustang over a ferrari pretty much. but the 2000 looks pretty clean hope you enjoy it. welcome to stangnet

Any near future plans for it?

Not sure yet. It's a blast to drive as is. I'm a school teacher, but rebuild classics as a hobby. I'm working on a 71 Torino right now, so once that's done maybe. I restore a car every summer. The past 2 years have been a 72 Torino and a 67 Caprice.

The WS6 was a great car, but the torque converter failed and I didn't feel like rebuilding a transmission to boot. I sold it for more than the Stang cost me and and am happy with the outcome.

Man, you do some nice work there. I agree on getting some 01+ smoked headlights, and would also suggest moving your spoiler to the edge of the trunklid. Nice looking car though!

Well i spoke to soon then, definitely a good decision given the circumstances. Black mustangs are just sweet. I was looking for one for a long time but ended up with a laser red instead. Will be looking forward to the mods that you make, looks as if you definitely know what you are doing with those classic beauties.

You do realize this made no sense right?

Nice, sounds like you fixed what was wrong and woke it up pretty well. The GT looks to be in great shape as well.

Nice T/A, too. People turn their back on the LT1 cars in favor of the LS1's and tend to get upset when they forget that an LT1 F-body is a potent car too. Stock for stock, your GT and your T/A would be a drivers race.

Nice ride! As stated, you will not go as fast as an LT1 with bolt ons, but the Aero is a much better car than the Fbody. The 2v's stangs will go forever. With the smaller 2v motor, you really need to put a gear in the PI cars to get the most out of them.

BTW, I would drop your car, but I would not change those wheels. They are becoming more rare each year. If you do, do not sale them.

Thats debatable.

LT1's are RATED @ 285hp, PI 2V's are RATED at 260hp.

Stock LT1's dyno +/- 240rwhp, PI 2V's dyno +/- 230rwhp

LT1's weigh more than 99-04 2V's.

LT1's are not going gain more net horsepower from any specific mod than a PI 2V would.

Stock 2v PI longblocks with stock cams have gone low 12's. Stock LT1's have gone mid to high 11's. Trap speeds are about 2-3mph faster. Fully bolt on LT1's make 300-325rwhp, and trap 2-3mph faster than 2v's with stock heads/cam(s), while 2v's make 260-280rwhp with stock cams.
