Yes i'm back to work! well i have a 3550 so the trans is ok, 155 pump so i think that will do? i have 42# injectors so i dont know if i might have to go larger? All my tubing for the turbo build is free and so is all the braided or regular high pressure hose i need I'm thinking i'll be into the build at the most $2000 My buddy has a set of areomotive fuel rails and regulator i can buy or have for cheap or free.In the long run the turbo will be a tad more do to the little supporting stuff i might need?I have the car the best it will get without boost or compression. I wanna do turbo so theres no sence to ad compression and then have to go back to lower compression to run the turbo.Once i get it all together it's time for ed or jay to work there majic.peace

I think I remember you saying your compression was low, so I say turbo or nitrous

The turbo setup would definitely be badass, but it's not going to be very efficient with a manual trans. Plus, that 3550 is probably going to say bye bye pretty quickly anyway with 600ft lbs. If I remember correctly you are 351 based? With that turbo and a decent auto setup (th400) high 9s will be cake.

there is no way in hell that 42lb injectors and a tremec 3550 will hold up if you build the car properly, (which you already have). Just the fuel pump will set you back 600+, you need enough fuel for 800+ hp. I would go with 72lb injectors, and you will need a return style fuel system. The turbo is def. the most exiting but I would build everything up and do the turbo last, or the car will be sitting for a while

agreed with the two posts above me....

look to spend $7-$10k if you wanna do a turbo setup the right way.

i think 7-10k is a bit exaggerated. with about 5k he could get it turbo'd. All you need is to look for all the supporting mods on ebay or craigslist. I've seen 72lb injectors for $200. If you look in the right places, you'll be in business.

buying used parts is gonna cost you more in the long run, cause most likely you will do it twice.

if he puts a turbo on it and wants to do it right, he will spend more than 5k. or you could cheap out, and buy some junk that will hurt the bottom end, and then you still have to buy good parts, and a new shortblock

Throw the 3550 out the window. Put a auto in if your doing the turbo. And wtf is it with everyone saying nitrous for low compression? Turbo setup itself wont cost much, but the fuel upgrades and such will add up.

Absolutely. Tune it to make 600-700rwhp, should be very easy and pretty safe with the 351. It will cost you less than $1k to build a th400 to handle that. Trans brake and a custom turbo convertor. If you can get your hotside and everything built for free or cheap that will get some major cost out of the way. Get a 60mm wastegate off ebay for $100, they work fine. Fuel system will be pricey. 10 point cage to be legal. Rear suspension. 33 spline setup in the rear with 3.55s and a 28" tire. If it 60s like it should that's mid 9s. Obviously you don't need ALL of that to drive the car, and there will be many bugs to work out.

For your engine, i wouldn't do ANYTHING until i changed that cam. Turbo setups are badass on the internet because you don't see all the hours spent in the garage dealing with the headaches. Put a big .600ish lift cam that sucker and watch it come to life.

What heads are on the car? I'd get those ported with a nice cam and let her breathe!

Their are very little headaches if you have a clue what your doing. Whats in it for a cam? I don't care what you put in it, the car isn't going to make squat for power NA with that low of compression.

Well how much power is "squat"? I'm only 9.25:1..

I've just known a few guys who definitely knew what they were doing, had all the good parts, but still had cooling issues and breakage issues. Some guys have loads of fun though, i know at least one guy making 800+hp and drives his on the street but i'm sure he has WAY more than $600 in his setup to keep it street worthy.
