I was wondering if anyone has tried getting there car smogged with cams in it. I would think that with a good tune there should be no problems with the sniffer/dyno test.

I have seen lots of Fox's with strokers and big cams pass no problem.
Heck just a couple weeks ago a friend of mine smogged his Ram hemi with a big cam and ported heads and it passed the test cleaner than my hemi without the cam and heads.

Just trying to plan for the future since I am still looking around for the right S197 to buy.

thanks

It's all in the tune but from what I have heard and read, cams with a really aggressive lope and idle like thumpers and mutha-thumpers are a little harder to pass smog with.

thanks for the reply. The thumper cams and hotrod cams wouldn't happen, at least not for me. I don't like how they sound.
I have seen a few videos with the Comp NSR stage 1 & 2's I think if you set the idle at about 750-800 in the tune it would make the cam less noticeable.

I have the comp nsr stage 2. They are not as lopey as hotrods or thumpers but they are still noticeable. Most tuners will automatically set the idle at 750-775.
