this stinks, stupid slow 2.3s N/A that is. Im disappointed with how slow of an engine it is. I mean seriously, driving a mustang is great, mine sits low and turns on a dime but that lazy engine, is practically worthless. Its actually funny tho im 16 which is a shame I figured id work my car from the ground up, but still. I think its hilarious when people know what your driving but they dont know its a 4 cylinder. Ive been challenged by EVERYTHING, neons, civics, s-10s, el caminos, BMW M3s, and most recently a 5.0 GT. Im ashamed of my slow car, I lose all respect for the power plant when these stupid little ricers blow my doors off. 2.3T I JUST WANT TO BEAT THOSE RICERS. I cant get a hold of a 2.3 longblock yet, but i have found a 8.8 rear with the 4cylinder t5. Think i should buy this? I have yet to make this thing FAST. is there anything i could do, what is the stock gears in the back of a a4ld 7.5'' pumpkin, and the 5 speed 8.8'' Would it make much of a difference?

Read Read Read Read. You will find that you have 3 choices.

1. 2.3T swap
2. Pay out the ass for N/A power
3. Quit bitching and save the money for the 2.3T swap!

cheapstang:You NEED to have your location posted with your profile.

listen to kidd. Do the 2.3T and the 5spd swap at the same time and save aggrevation. I prefer to pull the engine and trans together anyway. You won't need to change the rear right away. It will help you learn to feather it. Just that will knock out the first half of your list easily.

Otherwise these cars are super slow deal with it or make it faster.

I love starting with something that slow because you see the biggest difference.
For example. My fully loaded 2.3 auto pinto ran 13.88 in the 1/8th. I look for that time to get cut in half within the first 10 passes down the track.

I know my choices but i just need that turbo swap with the t5. Wouldnt i be having troubles with traction with that 7.5 if its got no traction lock or anything.

YEs and NO. It depends on your driving style. I am placing the Trac Loc in my 7.5 as soon as I make the arrangements to buy it in JAN

Traction problems? well if your only looking for some respect from the local 5.0 and ricer crowd, a 7.5 will do you fine. My car is getting pretty far away from stock and im still on an open-end 7.5

You think yours is slow? Mine is a carb'ed 2.3L N/A with an auto and over 185,000 miles on it. It's so slow that its own shadow flashed its lights at it!

One thing you could do when people challenge you with a car you know you don't stand a chance against is to sit there and smile at them. Let them think you're ready to run. Then, when the light goes green, let 'em have at it as you go and do your own thing. Leave 'em wondering what would have happened had you tried...
