o/r pipe = poor gas milage

anyone else have this happen to them after installing a o/r pipe?

Same O2 sensors or new ones?

I got a touch better mileage when I installed my exhaust setup (LT, Prochamber, catback)

i used brand new o2's

It should not have hurt milage. Was anything else done at the same time? Were both O2 harnesses reconnected?

i did the headers at the same time and the smog delete. Yes both harness are connected

Me too. I think less restriction would equal better scavenging and better efficiency.

Believe it or not removing the smog (air pump) may have hurt your mileage. I say this because your car starts up with a richened A/F until your O2 sensors heat up. Might have something to do with it. Did you remove the EGR stuff too?

Maybe it just you like the new sound soo much you are having trouble with your foot in throttle adjustment

Stock gears?

I lost some low end when I did mine. noticed no dif in MPG tho.

But with stock highway gears loss of lowend will mean more throttle all the time...

i used bbk headers. and no i did not remove any egr stuff. do you think i would get better milage if i put the smog pump back on?

There was no change in mileage for me, probably because my factory mid-pipe was practically new. Didn't feel any stronger either.

However, I did have a pinging problem during the time that I had the O/R H, which surprisingly went away when I swapped to my current catted X.

Did you reset the computer when you put the new O2 sensors in? If not, then you should anytime you replace any sensor. The comp needs to learn the new sensor.
