I've got steel o-rings in my block and receiver grooves in my heads. I've been running the Flatout coated copper headgaskets and have gone through 2 sets in 2 seasons. I've got ARP head studs and I re-torqued them as prescribed after 1 heat cycle.
I tore the engine down and the block is in the machine shop. I'm planning to run the MLS headgaskets. I paid a significant amount of money to put the o-rings and receiver grooves in the block and heads and I had to pay now to deck them out if I could use them. It is generally accepted practice to not use o-rings with the MLS gaskets but is it possible? would it work? could I use a copper o-ring instead of a steel one?
