OBD I to OBD II?

first of all, the LA3, and the pre 90something computers are EEC-IV.
Then, you get OBD. The OBD computer has at least twice as many wires in the connector. I wouldn't touch it, because they are so specific to the vehicle.

Well the reason was I was looking into some of the carputers out there and some people have tapped into their OBD-II computers and been able to pull readouts, save settings, change settings and so forth. And the carputers really only work with OBD-II computers since the OBD-I computers have a different programming or something along that nature. I still plan to put one in, but maybe just use it to run my stereo and GPS instead of also reading what my computer is thinking.

In 95 when the manufacturers were making the big switch over, some companies made "add on" systems so they wouldn't have to spend any money that year. I doubt you would ever get it to work because eec-IV computers have a slow communication rate it the scanners are pretty fast.
OBD II is pretty helpful especially when you have access to a high dollar scanner. :D
The best thing to do is except that ford vehicles don't give out much info and grab a cheap little beaping machine.
