Are you possibly afflicted? Here is how you can tell if you or a loved one has contracted OCRD.

1) Do you buy more of the older things then other people you know?
2) Do you make space in your basement, garage, barn, shop, closet, living room or bedroom for things that ‘you have to have’?
3) Do you have more then one of any type of machine but none of them work?
4) Do you go to garage sales not needing anything but if you need something, you’ll know it when you see it?
5) Do you look at the biggest pile of broken down, rusted machinery and say, “I CAN FIX THAT”, even though no person has been able to for 40 years?
6) Do other people ask about your 'collection' and you respond with 'I need all of that' or 'You never know when that will come in handy'?

Well, I only suffer some of the above simptoms, so does that mean I'm in the beginning stages, just not full blown OCRD ? I don't do any of #'s 3 or 4, and only sometimes #5. I know when to say no, to things involved in #5 that are too far gone or just not worth the effort and that can be replaced with somethign newer and better.

I think you're confusing OCRD with PD (Packrat Disorder).

I dont see anyone on my colleges campus repairing their cars behind the dorms. And what is also funny, when i got to the autozone nearby I purchase the part, then immediately replace it in the parking lot. I was funny when one part didnt fit so I walked back in and the guy just looked at me wierd(i dont think anyone has worked on their car in the parking lot before). I am also constantly looking for new stuff to buy on ebay motors, but suffer from the empty pocket syndrome .

You must be part Louisianian. ( coon ass) What you did is common practice here. It's strange NOT to see someone working on their car in the parking lot here. Sometimes it's even the parts guy doing it on the customer's car.

Is repetition one of the warning signs of OCRD or just one of the side effects?

I remember when the NAPA near me had a dirt lot 25 years ago and occasionally you would see people drop the oil right into the dirt!

I remember back when in east Texas, the county road departments used to spray dirt roads with oil to keep the dust down. Cheap form of paving. Oh and the triple post wasn't OCRD, that was my computer acting up.
