Pull the codes.
You will probably get a code for some sensor being out of range.

If you don't have a code reader, then hit your local AutoZone. They will run a code reader on your car for free. Some other shops will do this for free too?

Do a search here for posts made by a member called "jrichker". He has a "McGyver" method of pulling the codes using nothing more than a paper clip, a toaster oven, a duck. (ok I made the last 2 up, but I am pretty sure you need a paper clip)

Welcome to stangnet, and to the mustang community. It sounds like you chose one heck of a way to get started

Edit>>>
For both of the above posters -
If you set up a signature with all of your mods, then it will be much easier for people to help you out. You don't need to list every little detail, but the big stuff is nice.

sharp ride gelinasd, also you can add more info. if you like just type info under the rpm planet sig...you pasted in the edit signature section as i have in mine other upgrades, car domain site and some people list items for sale under the rpm planet sig...just remember you can only use 500 letters it will let you know if you used too many.

Is it a Carb or EFI? Backfires on a EFI car can seriously damage the Intake! They can on a Carb too as my Buddies Carb caught fire and melted his intake.
