Hey there!

For as long as I can remember, I've had a very intermittant stalling issue with my 2000 GT Convertible. I can't remember the problem ever occuring when cold, only when it's hot during a good run, and I'm stoppped at a traffic light or braking.

Most of the archived posts point toward a bad IAC, but when the car is cold.

Anyway, when the car is hot, and I let off the gas to stop at a light, or to hit the brakes, etc, the car will occasionally sputter, where the RPMs drop sharply, then rev back up, drops again, revs up, repeating a few more times until the car dies, or until I step on the gas again, and it goes back to normal. When it does stall, I can start it right back up, and it works great again, and may not repeat the problem for weeks or months. I've gone entire summers without this problem, and other times it's happend two or three times in a trip...and always when I don't have a scanner with me.

I suspect the TPS is acting up when it's hot, mostly because this seems to be an electrical issue (restarting will cure the problem).

The problem is that it doesn't happen very often, and these are often the worst bugs to troubleshoot, particularly when I'm an hour away from my home and my tools.

The car is a 5-spd, and less than 30,000 miles on the clock. Basically stock, except for CAI, throttle body and plenum. It's stalled before the mods, so I know that's not the issue.

It happens so seldom, I wasn't even going to bother with it, but I'm considering selling it, and I'd like to make sure it's PERFECT before I do.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? How did you resolve it?

Thanks in advance for any info!

Replace IAC

Clean the MAF and look for vacuum leak. Esp between the air tube and the input of the IAC.

If that does not work, replace the IAC.
