Thread name pretty much explains it. 100 miles or so ago, my odometer stopped turning, but the speedo still works fine.
Car has 112k on it, and speedo gear is 23 tooth for 4.10's, if that makes a difference.
What's the fix?
Thanks,
Jeremy

It sounds like the gears that mesh inside the spedo that hook up to the odometer might not be working or are broke.

Sounds like it is time for a new spedo.

Great
How much do new speedo's cost? (The mecahnical piece, not the swimwear, for the funny guys in the house)
What's involved? Just removing the cluster housing and pulling out and replacing it?

would I need an new speedo "gear" or "cable".
Is there a gear behind the dash besides the one in the tranny?

The best place to get one would be a junkyard and it all depends on what they would charge you. $20 maybe?

Yes you can just remove the cluster housing and pull it out and replace it. Just make sure it is from the same year.

No, not if the speedo is working now.

Just peruse the Classifieds here and at the Corral.net and find someone parting out an aero Fox. Ask how much for the speedometer. If you want to set the speedometer to the same mileage as the old one, setup an electric drill to turn it. Do not peg it. Measure the time it takes to do a few miles. If you set it right at 60, it will turn one mile in one minute. Then use a little math to determine about when it will get close to where you want it. Let her run! Myself, I would set it near as high as I could go to shorten the time.

You do not need a speedometer gear. This is down in the transmission. If your cable was broken, your speedometer would not work at all.
