Odometer flashing

My odometer where the mileage is listed keeping going on and off. I took apart the bezel and didnt see anything. Any advice would be appreciated.

How old is the battery? A fading battery will cause a lot of odd problems. Hot summers are killers for batteries and if you don't drive your car much (e.g.--weekend toy) then the battery should be the prime suspect.

Does the car start OK? Do the gauges sweep during cranking? The sweep is a pretty good indication that the battery is week.

mines doing this also flashing on an of mines 02 gt 68k took aprt aswell didnt see anything visably wrong

same problem here. car's in tip top shape. it must be a connection issue. thats all i can figure

it says online for 159 u can get it fixed

i am sure its a bad solder point on the board somewhere

I also have a 99 gt and i have the same problem the odometer will randomly just black out and come back its wierd

Where to find the problem: Using a good magnifying glass or loupe, look at the pin ends that come through the board and look for the cold joint (as per the article). You will see a break or crack in the solder and that is causing the bad connection.

Thanks man Maybe when i do my whitefice gauges ill take a closer look at that!
