Was the vented cowl panel located between the hood and windshield that houses the windshield washer spray nozzle ever made out of cast metal?

Cast metal? No.

All vehicle body panels are stamped sheet metal that is spot welded together

Is it possible he is referring to the plastic cover on the cowel? That was always plastic.

That is what I understood his question to be. I only remember it as a plastic panel. I have seen some filler panel replacements that are a solid (looking) panel, I think they are fibreglass.

Ha, I see now.

I’ve only seen the bolt on ones in plastic.

I’ve see a guy weld it over so it’s all metal and smooth, but it looked weird. Didn’t match the hood lines

Thanks for all the response! Came across a part number to one i have in storage. Could have swore it was a cast piece but could find no info on the part number. If anybody has any info in this part number I would also be interested. E3ZB-6102228-AWL I have found cowl panels with similar part numbers but not an exact match.

That’s the part number for a standard 83-93 cowl vent.

What’s different about the one you have? Pics?

I've seen the replacement cowl cover before but never the extension pieces ?
Just thinking out loud but, are the extensions meant to cover the body panels that are normally exposed on each side of the cowl grille ?

Answered my own question, should've Googled first.
Could be an option or someone with damage from a hood flipping up.
