Off roading

Thanks.

It was interesting running with the Vette club. I was passed so many times I thought I was getting lapped. Funny seeing almost two of everything. I don't know if I was running slower or they were running faster. Probably both.

The car was not handling as well as I had hoped. I was playing with the tire pressure to get better, but I also think the track was greasy between 6 and 7. I am still running the stock GY run-flats. The rear end was real loose. It was also killing my confidence. I have a set of KDW2s ready to go on my stock rims. I just need to figure out things like the pressure sensors and what I want to do with the wheels. I am thinking now of powder coating them.

Brian was with me in the car when the video was taken. Its cool, no emergency reaction, just slow and plot the best course threw the mess. I have the standard video as I did from past events, nothing new really.

There was a Lotus Elise there in my group. Either he was not that great a driver or that is not as cool a car as I thought. The first session he kept left at turn 9 and on the back straight. It was frustrating. I talk to him and he said he did not want to hit the "bump" on turn 9. After I talked to him, he started letting me by. :D

I need to chop up the video to see how I did time wise.

Through the day, there wer a number of cars that went off track. So, I think the track was slicker than normal (whatever normal is......).

Speaking of the Lotus, here's a pic. The limit is 2 per reply. So, I'll add some more.....

Ha. Here a pic for me to remember forever..........

What's wrong with this picture???

Thanks Brian! I was glad for you that Jeff came out and fixed your brake.

Next time I will have to remember by Canon so I can get more pictures too.

I even got Black Flagged in the last session, on the second to last lap. :notnice:  He said I was getting squirrelly. I was, but I had it under control and did not go off the track.

How do you guys rate this event against the TC and SAAC events?
I'd say it rated with the others. The organization was good. They basically stayed on schedule in the morning (may have run about 10 minutes late). And in the afternoon, they were 20-30 minutes ahead of schedule.

They cooked a spaghetti lunch with garlic bread and cake; which was free and pretty good. And they provided bottled water free all day long.

The morning was very full sessions; over 30 cars in some groups. The afternoon thinned out a lot. The last sessions only had about 8 cars in them.

I would guess a little more than half the cars were Vettes. There were about 5 Mustangs, a number of Porsches. Vipers, BMWs, etc. (nothing that was really riced-out). Everyone I talked to was friendly (even though I had that foriegn car; the Mach).

Other than the track being slick on the back turns, and the flaggers being quick with the black flags, I thought everything was great. I would do it again.
