Who has hard Tech Specs on what will or will not fit??
I have seen many posts relating to offsets on the new mustang. I have also seen many "Largest sizes" that will fit. I have heard of 19"x11" wheels running 305/35's
19"x10" with 295's
etc.
Has anyone actually measured and found out what will fit?
Measure and make a note of the following dimensions
1) Distance from hub face to the point where you want the outer edge of the rim to sit in the wheel arch. If your aim Is to really fill the wheel arch don’t forget to allow for tire bulge.
You will need two straight edges to measure this accurately.
2) Distance from hub face inboard to whatever would first contact a wheel to limit the backspacing, this could be a chassis member, suspension link, brake component or the bodywork, again don’t forget tire bulge.
These two measurements added together (less approximately one inch – refer wheel sizing) Will determine the maximum width of wheel which can be accommodated.
Once the width of the wheel and tire to be used has been determined the desired backspacing can easily be calculated as shown on the diagram.
Offset
Offset can be positive or negative and is measured from the centerline of the wheel to the wheel mounting face or pad where the wheel bolts to the hub flange of the vehicle.
Positive offset is when the wheel mounting face is outboard of the wheel centerline and is popular of front wheel drive / newer vehicles.
Negative offset is where the wheel mounting face is inboard of the wheel center line and is more common on rear wheel drive, older and classic cars and gives the “ sucked in” deep dish effect.
Accurate measurements will be beneficial to all stangers to ensure proper wheel/tire fitment.
