Tranny

My car is a 2003, I bought it new in late 02. At 12k the tranny started grinding third and fith gear. for replaced the whole trans. After the warranty ran out I broke three shift forks and three secronizers and two shift pads. Needless to say I thik you guys are correct when you say they all have problems.

I have missed 3rd even with my Pro 5.0 at higher rpm's. Mid rpm and mildly aggressive shifting are OK, but under rapid conditions my pony does not like 3rd....

Breaking 3 shift forks and 3 synchros is not atrans problem , its a driver problem. You will never fix that at a dealer unless you sell it . They make autos for drivers like you( and my mom). The shift probles here are not what you describe.

Hey Psnous, im the guy in kc with the yellow 01cobra conv. so i should just get the rebuit kit cause if its not much cheaper than a new t3650 i might just get a new one. Do you have any suggestions on were to get labor done.

For a tranny swap call Mike's Performance at 694-0099, ask for Mike. He may be able to do a rebuild also but the parts are expensive

Quick summary for any new comers. 1-2nd grind. Service bulletin for fluid level doesn't really help. TSB syncro/gear cluster rebuild kit really makes an improvement, but not 100%.

try this, hold your clutch in and try to shift from 1-2 fast, 2-3 fast, 3-4 fast, 4-5 fast...now if any make a grinding noise, you will be able to have it fixed easily...all you will have to do is take a tech on a ride with you and show them that it grinds in whatever gear..that's what i did and they rebuilt my whole tranny

it was a 100% fix and it feels 100times better than the first day i bought it

The mis information tha spews from this thread is amazing. If you depress the clutch and get a clash when shifting the only explanation is that the clutch is not releasing. The 05 is a completely different release system. It is a hydraulic system that is known to require a careful bleed operation when a poor clutch release is experienced. The older mechanical, cable system can also be mis adjusted to not fully release the clutch . The TSB for 1-2 shift concerns has nothing to do with 3-4s or4-5s.Or 05 MY cars for that matter.

You are right. The TSB doesn't even cover 04's, but dealers are fixing them though.

The TSB is for 1-2 and 2-3 synchros and sometime reverse if it is damaged.

Ford has done something about it ... they created a TSB ... have you taken your's in to get the fix? ... but, you are probably out of the warranty period, huh?

Yes ,all 01 Cobras. There was a mix for the GTs between the T45 and the 3560 for '01.
