i need this like i need a new hole but i was thinking some of you guys have done it for around 350.00 inlcuding wheels
5 lug oem mustang wheels w/tires are a dime a dozen around here in orlando.
i want to do ranger axles and drums with Lincolns front rotors and calipers and etc

but my questions are
1)i believe there is wheel restrictions to do this. like cant use the 98+ cobra wheels or bullits cause of cap fitment. so does this budgt swap only let you run pre98 ford wheels like tribars or the newer ponys.

2)can you just do a sn95 front and ranger out back and run bullits?

3) is it just 94-98 that work or can you do 2000-04 spindles rotors and calipers?

i know there are more expensive ways to go 5 lug that would allow bullits but the cost factor doesnt justify cause i can get the played out cobra r's or other mass produced 4 lug wheel and now that it going to fit and look like. instead of takin chances. i really just want to run bullits lol so if i can put them on the ranger axles then its not to much mroe expensive.

Most of this is covered in the brake threads, but here are quick answers.

1) You can run 94-95 tri bars, 95 Cobra Rs and most all of the 16" Mustang wheels that are not concave in the center cap area.

2)Yes. Ranger axles work for every stock Mustang 5 lug wheel 94-04.

3) 94-95 are narrower in the front, closer to Fox track. The 96-04 are a bit wider but will work with 17x8 wheels - the fronts will stick out a bit more than the rears with Ranger axles and 17x8 wheels.

so i can run some 17 bullits like yours with;
width exception is it really noticeable?

94-04 front components. spindles,rotors,calipers.
and 28spline ranger axles and drums.
so it really isnt all the big of a deal then. i found 97 front components for 150.00 and rear components are an easy find.

can you still go wide(dished) out back like 17x10 and 17x8 up front.

That is exactly what I want. A guy I know had some 17x10.5 dd Bullitts narrowed to about 9.5" and ran them on his 93GT. It looked great.

As for the width differences, it is not too bad, but it might bother some people.

Front: Go with 94-95 spindles. They only increase the track width 5mm. You can use 96-04 spindles too, but you cannot run 17X9's up front. They will stick out a tad. I tried it on Hack Job. They increase the track width 8mm more than 94-95's (13mm overall) With a 275 they sat out 1/2". With a 17X8 they are perfect with the 96-04 spindles, but with Ranger stuff in back stick with 94-95 stuff because you want them to be as even as possible and the 96-04 spindles push the front wheels out 8mm more than 94-95 spindles do.

Rear: Ranger left or Aerostart right axle shafts, new wheel seals, Ranger drums, Mustang hardware while your in there. IF you go disc with Ranger axles, get the North Race Car brackets and 94-95 calipers and rotors and flex lines. 96-04 calipers will work too, but the lines don't run as nice as 94-95 stuff do on a fox. 94-95 lines will bolt up and look stock to a fox body axle.


If you want to run a 17X10 or 10.5 wheel out back you MUST stick with Ranger axles to keep the stock fox body track width. 94-95 axle shafts will push the wheels out 3/4" per side making 17X9's sticking out a tad and 17X10's sticking out like a "yo yo MC rapper".

well the only problem with that is i dont trust people that sell on ebay and craigs.....
so is there anyways to know what im getting?

i am keeping drum, so 94-95 spindles rotors and calipers up front. and ranger rear axles...

ps. is is possible to get 94-95 spindles and hub and use 96-04 calipers?

so bullits wont work with lincols compnets then huh? cause i got someone selling the netire front kit on craigs. who is telling me that he was running bullits on his car before he took this stuff of....

The 94-98 calipers & rotors are the same, no diiference there. The 99-04 are the better calipers to use if not going with the Cobra brakes. They just require slight grinding of the spindle to fit the 94-95s. And no, you can't really use the Lincoln rotors and run Bullitts properly. You certainly can't run the center cap, and I belive you have to use a spacer just to get them to fit, not a good thing to do. Just get the right parts and do it once.

hmm. yes do it right the first time, its just 94-95 spindles are rare-ring.at least on ebay....i guess i got to junkyard hunt... will v6 sn95 (94-95) work or what?
the guy is selling the all front complete components of a Lincoln for a good deal! and has sent me pictures of his 5.0 on bullits, no front center caps but it doesn't look bad... and i might run cobra r's anyways

the V6, Gt and Cobra spindles are all the same. Look on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and maybe you can find some close by, and some of the places even ship parts, so that is another option.

found a couple of pairs in Orlando for $49 each side, and a pair in Lakeland for $35 each side. Good prices IMO. I bought about 8 or 10 sets for like $60 to 80 a set & sold them on ebay for like $150-190 a set. That financed my 5 lug conversion!

My only gripe with the ranger axles and the 17" Bullitts are how they sit in the wheel well... They tuck way under and to me that looks terrible. We have two fox's with these axles, and with any of the SN-95 offset wheels they have this tucked appearance. If you plan to run a 10 or 10.5 wheel out back, do the ranger stuff, if you plan to run a stock sized wheel, run the SN axles...

ill be doing this soon trying to run bullits, all im doing is ranger/aerostar axles out back, with the drums (that saves us from having to mess with our master cylender and brake booster) and up front ill be doing sn95 balljoints, 94-95 spindles (grinded to clear) and PBR (99-04) non cobra calipers up front, new from my work (advance auto) 99-04 rotors and pads. shouldnt be too bad.

25th, im planning on running oem 17x8s or maybe 17x9s im not sure, i dont care for deep dish bullits really, should i be looking for sn95 rear axles? will ranger drums fit on them?

Not sure if the drums will work on those axles, my guess is no, but dont quote me...

A lot of people like the look, me personally I HATE it. I hate the tucked wheel look on Mustangs. I have 17x8s on my car now, with 26x10.5 ET Streets, and it looks goofy! You can "kind of" see it here, how the rear wheels are tucked. I have more clearance to the fender lip than the inner wheel well with this set up!

can you use drums with 98 COBRA REAR AXLES, or do these require disc conversion only

96 AND UP SPINDLES WITH FRONT CALIPERS

will this combo prevent the wheel tuck and be able to run bullets or 03 cobras?

Disc only. The drums would not sit fully on the shoes of you attempted it.

They will stick out a bit more than 94-95 spindles. 8" wheels like stock Bullitts would be OK, but 9" wheels like 03 Cobras would risk rubbing on the fender, especially if you have decent sized tires on them.

Theres a bunch of scrap yards on colonial in the bithlo area, you should be able to find the parts out there, but there not always cheap cheap.

^ hey i just realized you live close to me? where exactly not trying to be a stalker but good to know a local guy...

and yeah for the yards i dont like any of them around here. i am going to try you pull on jetstream dr. uts a lil drive but well c, i think im just going to do a front claiper upgrade and call it day. bullets are the only 5 lug wheel i like, every other played out wheel is in 4 lug if i back out..
