Well I have always been a hardcore 2v guy and have tried to talk many people out of going 4v. Now that my car is down, no motor, ect. The opportunity has popped up to buy a complete Mach 1 motor. The motor is from intake to oil pan. And has 50k miles on it. I will be stealing.... I mean picking it up this Saturday. This guy wanted to trade for a 4 bolt main 350 and has no idea what it is worth. I told him I dont own any junk, meaning chevy parts, (sorry Winters had to say it) but i offered him $400 cash and he said really? SOLD! So now i have to sell my Mac headers i bought for my 2v and get 4v headers. I'm still going N/A. Right now its looking like Im going to do headers, and bolt ons, with a upr kmember and coilovers. I will also be following fellow member 98cobra in going with 4.56s and revving this 4v to its max! Im so pumped right now, I cant wait to get my baby back!

How did the kid get the motor? It'd be worth giving it a look over so you don't buy a $400 paperweight.

If its in good shape, hell of a pickup!

Definitely do a compression test. 03-04 Mach 1 & Cobra motors are known for developing low compression issues on the driver side head due to burnt exhaust valves. I am speaking from experience because I just had to have my top end rebuilt at only 56k miles...

Thanks guys for the good advice, from what I have learned he got rear ended in his mach and the insurance company totaled it. He bought it back so he could part it out, and put the money into his project car( el camino). He has most of the car gone. I will be performing a compression test before any money is exchanged, do you guys have any other suggestions?

was it out of an automatic or a 5 speed car?

if the car was an automatic....it has a standard mustang gt crank.

if the car was a 5 speed it has a forged crank and 8 bolt crank/flywheel.

He said it was a 5 speed car, annd sorry fast97 I'm going to keep this one for myself. At worst the heads could be f'd and at that time I will just have myself another compression 2v...

What Kilgore? The car is not a dd. I have no problems working out kinks I run into. I don't see the swap to be too hard to accomplish.

I want to make sure these 4v heads are good before I go selling my 2v stuff, because if the heads are bad I'm going to throw my 2v heads on the mach short end. I will let you know how it goes.

I am doing a similar swap pretty soon myself. Except I will be putting 2v heads on the Mach1 shortblock.
