just a few minutes ago i was horsing around in my friends front yard in my 02 gt manual, and i burned out through 1st and 2nd, and as i shifted into 3rd, i dont kno what happened, but i heard really loud grinding, and then it was in gear. now whenever i shift into 3rd there is a grind. not just like a little click click grind, like a full on clutch-not-depressed grind. what did i do and how do i fix it? oh i will never do that again....

Rebuild yourself or get a used one, should find one for 650 or so used.

Or try this one: only 350 with few miles on it. Best deal I've seen.

Mr GT 02, what do mean, "if you build thay will come"? do i have to get the entire thing rebuilt, or can i just get 3 gear replaced? 3rd is the only one where it grinds. thanks everyone

They still have to take it apart, same price. He was joking about that if you build it crap.

so if the place tells me that i need to replace the whole thing, or do some major rebuild on it, they are lying to me? all i need to tell them is to replace the synchro? thanks

You won't find many shops that will just do one little thing like synchros. They all seem to want to charge you 600+. A rebuild usually means replacing worn items. You might get away with it but you see they still have to take it apart and see what broke, that alone is alot of labor already (plus putting it back together). Hell rebuild it yourself! I'm going to try to fix a t-45 as soon as I get it from this guy... Read my previous post, you won't need many tools. If you need a press, just take the bearing/gear to a machine shop, they'll press it out for you.

Aye, This is usually the case. Shop around see if you can find someone honest to do only the 3rd gear synchro
