Ok so tomarrow im going to get the code checked and ill post it. I heard that FRAM is suposed to be best filters. They last longer and filter to a smaller degree. Also is it dangerous for me to be driving around with the computer having an error cause if the computer reads a low exhaust gas temp wont it lean the mixture and if it leans the motor when its not supposted wont that create a detonation problem?

I dont think it will as long as your front o2 sensors read right and as long as you dont have an exhaust leak at the manifolds you will be ok .

...I can take it. I think.

My 96 takes 6 so not all Stangs are created equal. Go with what the manuel says. If it screws up the motor, Ford owes you a new one.

Have the codes pulled and see what it turns out.

To address the oil capacity issue, Ford changed the capacity, and I assume the oil pan in mid 2002 (I believe). My 2003 holds 6 and the manual recommends 6.

Oil Change

I wouldn't put a Fram oil filter in my trunk! Motorcraft, Purolator Pure One, K&N, Mobil 1, Bosch or (shudder) AC-all excellent filters.

why is fram bad??? ive always used them with the exeption of the time i used a k&n and havent had any problems with either oil filter?

Do a little research on the topic and you'll see why. Basically, the filter media is garbage and so is the way they put it together ... they're junk period! The trusty old Motorcraft FL-820S that comes on your car is a good filter. I've been using them since day one and you can also get them cheap at Walmart ... they have a great price on Autolite plugs too.
