Oil in Intake?

I put on a performer intake last week and today i had to take it off. When i took off the cover on the side there was a puddle of oil by where the pcv line connects. I don't know if the stock intake did this. It this normal or do I have a problem? I ordered a new pcv screen and valve. I did install the baffle in the lower intake.

well a pcv valve circulates oil back into the valve covers so you could have a worn out pcv valve. or just spilled some oil when you pulled it all off.

Pretty typical of the performers... The oil is part blowby, part normal consumption, mostly blowby. There's not a whole lot you can do cheaply to stop it. I've seen guys install oil/water seperators off of air compressors and they work pretty good at trapping the oil before it gets to the intake. My '93 had it so bad I'd suck a quart of oil out the PVC every 150 miles when I first got it. Rerouted the lines and used a '69 stang windshield washer resevoir to catch the extra oil and stuck the PVC into the top of the resevoir. Just poured the oil back into the motor every other day.

can you run a breather in place of the pcv?
i've heard of people doing this but i dunno if its right

some also run a catch can with a fuel filter to accomplish the same thing. you can put a drain on the catch can to recirculate the oil caught.

you can install a evac system and get rid of the pcv altogether to rid the problem.
