oil out of the exhaust pipes??

Looking for some help here....I just added oil to the engine...read right at the bottom of the dipstick...but now, when I start the car up...oil spits out of the exhaust pipes...I have an oil separator installed...what could be causing this??

you might want to try asking over there then. Im sure Tim will be more than willing to offer his advice.

Not saying SN cant help, but if MPH built the motor, they probably know more about it than we do.

How do you know it's oil? You sure it's not just black condensation? Or do you mean smoke? Straight oil from the pipes would mean it's getting to the exhaust valve but not going through the combustion chamber.. not likely with a newer MPH built engine.. I'd double check to be sure it's not actually just mucky water.


Edit: Oil separator keeps oil out of the intake manifold, and even the little bit which gets in there is burnt.. wouldn't show up as straight oil in the pipes.

this appears to be oil...it is black liquid that is sprayed all over my garage floor...and has a black area there now...

its condensation, because if your where burning oil or spitting oil then you rcar would be throwing out a cloud of smoke

Yeah, its most likely just some condensation that has collected in your exhaust and been mixed with the gases on their way out.

Have you just recently had new exhaust installed??

I had the same problem right after I installed my new exhaust. There was an oily film on the SPL and the first 2 weeks, I had the black liquid ***** spraying everywhere. After that, it was fine, it was a great way to see where the exhaust was leaking around the clamps tho.

Most exhaust shops will use "pipe dope" during assembly at the joints. This will cause a small amount of liquid to exit out the back until the excess is burnt off.

Being that your motor is basically brand new, I really wouldnt worry to much about the black substance. Just keep an eye on it and if it continues even when the weather warms up or it does start smoking, then I would start to be concerned.

Heh.. that's a load off. Ask some older foxbody owners about the black spots.. the GT's with the turn down tips were notorious for leaving crazy black stains on the driveway.
