Ok i am going to install my blower in the next couple of weeks and would like to do some of the prep work first. I dont like how the vortech directions tell you to just punch and tap the oil pan. I find that this could cause issues down the road with leakage. Also concidering my oil pan has a small dent on it i guess i will replace it. So my question is this. Should i buy the factory pan or something like the canton ? also i would like to use a bung for the oil return line. does anyone have the p# and company they used? any help firguring this stuff out is much apreciated.

There is nothing wrong with punching the pan and tapping it. It isnt hard to do and it will not leak. It actually works quite well.

maybe so but if im going to replace the pan why not have the added security and extra material of a bung .. oil pans are thin.

Just punch it for now. If you have a problem with the OP THEN change it. If you were "planning" on changing the pan anyway, just wait and see if you have a problem (which you shouldnt), and change it at that time.

I find no reason for "just punching" and tapping it now. if im going to do a job im going to do it correctly, but thats just how i do things. If the pan is a little dented and im going to replace it it will be getting a bung installed doesnt make sence not to.id rather have 6 or 7 threads to work with and say the 2 threads u get from the pan itself. anyone done this with any useful info thanks

I wasnt saying i dont need help ,but what i was asking was if someone had a Part # or brand ie (canton)or the like , that they have used with a bung already installed. Otherwise i will use a factory replacement pan and weld a bung on myself.I understand were you guys are coming from with your posts its just that im picky with my car and figure sence im taking it off anyways no sence in not spending the minimal added time and putting a bung on or getting a pan with one if it wasnt too expensive.

Well I do agree with your philosophy. Once you find the fitting you want to use, find out what thread it is, and call around to the local fastner stores in your city. They will know what you are talking about. Tell them you need a bung for that thread (weld on bung). Then weld it on.
