oil pressure sending unit

1 1/16, but I used channel locks, took that bracket out of the way (right in front of it, with the ground wire to it), popped it right out. Head up Lowes or Home depot, visit the plumbing section, you can make a rig to keep the stock sending unit in there also, you won't have a dead gage in the cluster. Good luck
If you try channel locks or vice grips, make sure they're sharp (ie new)

I got the socket from sears (craftsmen), but, that big (1 1/16) only came in half inch drive. Tried, but couldn't get it that way. I sprayed some pentrating oil on there, swilled three beers, then attacked with channel locks, and vice grips. Power steering pump is in the way huh? Keep working it...it'll come out

I did mine from the front, but thinking back now, and with your filter off, maybe you can get it from underneath with a socket. I know I couldn't get the ratchet hadle in there, from the front, socket was too long. This may be reaching a bit, but I was gonna cut my socket down (deepwell) to make room for the handle. I got lucky with the C/L's 1st.....beer will probably fix everything though...

I would just say to pop that whole bracket off. Its only 3 bolts...2 are easy to get to. The last one is behind the power steering pulley so u can loosen it and pull the bracket off until the bracket is off. Or you can just get a pulley puller from murrays to rent for free.

Then you will have LOTS of room to work with. I believe i got a 27mm regular socket to work on it. Someone posted on here a few months ago when i asked about it.

You can buy the correct socket to remove it for $6.00 at Advance Auto Parts.

That's what I used, the sender came out without remove 1/2 the engine.:D

Even when you get the old ending unit off. The new one from autometer is a little bigger and you might have a hard time putting it on. Just to get mine to fit neatly, I had to go to a junk yard a pull the adapter off a fox body gt. The adapter on ours is shorter. Maybe you'll have luck. But that is just a heads up.
