Anyone know what could cause the oil pressure to drop when accelerating. At idle oil pressure is fine, at part trottle oil pressure fluctuates from 50 to 20 psi. This doesnt occur all the time so I know it couldnt be mechanical. Sending unit is new and installed new rod, main bearings about 8000 miles ago. Oil pump is new as well, could it be electrical?

When the car heats up it will drop. From 50 at start up to 20 hot is what mine does. But, it should jump from 20 to 30 or so when accelerating. The oil heats up and thins out a little.

Are you using the stock gauge? If so, dont do anything until you get a reliable mech. gauge on there and see whats really happening. I also thought i had serious OP problems and i changed out the sending unit to no avail. I hooked up a nice autometer mech OP gauge to find out that everything was fine.

mine has been reading ZERO ever since I got my car lol engine does knock but stock gauge sucks anyway... Get yourself a good mechanical gauge before thinking it's the engine, man!
